Two Types of Converters

The function of the converter is to change one signal to another signal. In the electric devices market, there are DC-DC converters and AC-DC converters. DC means direct current in the converter and AC means alternating current. What is the difference between them and what is their function?

The function of DC-DC converter is to change the input voltage to a stable output voltage. There are three types of DC-DC converters, which are boost converter, buck converter and buck-boost converter. You can chose the different converter according to your voltage needs. The DC-DC converter is made from control chip, inductance coil, Diodes, triode and capacitor. The voltage can be changed by PFM and PWM. It is broadly use on the phone, MP3, digital camera and so on.

AC-DC converter can change both alternating current and direct current. The process of alternating current change to direct current is called rectification. Direct current change in to alternating current is called inversion. The voltage is changed by PWM and MOS tube. The main component of this converter is the diode and the control chip. The control chip in the converter made the converter noise-proof, safe and voltage-stabilizing. It is mainly use in the power station, railway station and airline field.

The converter is a component that made the voltage suitable or stable for daily use. If the voltage change frequently, it will effect the electric devices. Hence, a converter is an essential tool to stabilize the voltage.
